JOGLE is John O’Groats to Land’s End.

I ran jogle in 36 days covering 948 miles as a 64 year old man with Parkinson’s. Because I still Can.

From my initial diagnosis, I didn’t want Parkinson’s to ever define me. I’d heard about running from John O’Groats to Lands’ End, but until now, it was never something I would contemplate running.

The Stats

  • On July 18, I set off from John O’Groats to run to Land’s End

  • I ran 948 miles or 36 back-to-back marathons

  • 60,000ft elevation

  • I believe I’m the oldest person to run it

  • On marathon 28 I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my right foot and ran the last 8 marathons in pain

  • I raised £15,000 for Parkinson’s UK

  • i have Parkinson’s.

The WHy?

I was planning to run from the most Northerly point of Scotland to the most Southerly point in England. But why on earth would a man with Parkinson’s and at 64 years old want to put their body through such physical demands?

After a little research I realised I wanted to really test my limits and prove that Parkinson’s wasn’t going to stop me from trying what might seem impossible to many.

JOGLE gave me a chance to really prove what is possible with Parkinson’s and provided a platform to raise awareness and funds to support Parkinson’s UK.
